Walkin’ the Dog

The Games section of Microholics was included in an attempt to introduce a bit of satire to the book, and I wanted to have a rant about various things, under the guise of a some imaginary computer games.

Such as this one:

Ah! Those were the bad old days, when dogs and their owners were allowed to roam free in densely-populated areas, leaving much misery and manure in their wake. It still happens, of course, though not to the same extent. Legislation and signs like this have improved matters no end.

(Don’t you just love the steam rising from the “deposit”!)

Better still, public parks now have receptacles like this one dotted around at strategic points:

poobin

I recently had the “privilege” of using one of these when I took my daughter’s pooch for a perambulation. Jeez! When I opened the lid, the contents of my stomach were nearly added to the contents of the bin!

Have you ever stopped to think whose job it is to collect and dispose of this stuff? Whoever you are, my friends, you belong to the world’s unsung heroes, and you deserve every penny they pay you, which, I suspect is not a lot.
