All that glitters……

Another cartoon today from At the Micro Shop:

I was trying to think of a phrase (other than the title of this post) which summed up the subject of this cartoon, and the old saying “All red hat and no knickers” came to mind. I know it usually applies to a person (female presumably!) rather than an object, but it somehow seems apt for anyone or anything with a gaudy exterior and no “substance” underneath.

Out of interest I thought I’d check this phrase on the internet, and was mildly surprised to see that there are two interpretations. There’s mine, (the clean one), and the other is a reference to “ladies of the night”. So maybe that phrase isn’t so appropriate for a cartoon about a computer. After all, you can’t imagine anyone wanting a rampant physical relationship with their PC, can you?

Or are there some geeks out there who would beg to differ?
