Boswell’s Backside
We’re back to education today with an offering from Microholics (Page 82, if that’s of any interest!). I’ll remind readers here that the book was published in 1985.

Poor little Boswell! I have a great feeling of empathy with that lad as I know exactly what he’s experiencing. I’ve tried to capture an expression of abject misery and apprehension on his face, as he subconsciously holds his hands behind him as if to defend the forthcoming attack on his backside.
Of course, when the book was published corporal punishment hadn’t quite been outlawed in schools, as it is today in most westernised countries.
“And a jolly good job it has too!” I can hear you saying. And I agree.
Except….
Well, I’ve always been an adherent of the “let the punishment fit the crime” philosophy. So, if the crime involves physical violence, then (perhaps) so should the punishment.
I’m talking about bullying of course. Punishments such as standing in the corner, detention, extra homework, lines, counselling or expulsion just ain’t going to teach the bully a lesson!
