[H]aspirations!
You would think, would you not, that to get a job at the HSBC bank, the ability to properly pronounce the name of your employer would be a pre-requisite.
Apparently not.
I had a phone call yesterday.
“Good morning. This is Karen from Haitch SBC.”
Cor Blimey! Why can’t people speak The Queen’s English? You wouldn’t find Her Maj. making a faux pas like that!

The Dog’s Bollocks….
…. is the name of a very palatable beer made in the very heart of middle England by the Wychwood Brewery. Apparently Prince Charles drinks it, and he visits the brewery on a fairly regular basis. You can see the beer’s name blatantly blazoned as you enter the premises of the brewery.

‘Tis said that they cover the offending words when Camilla accompanies The Prince!
I know all this because I was there at the weekend. Two days of fun and revelry with the Cartoonists Club of Great Britain, as we caught the small Cotswold town of Witney completely unawares. On Saturday afternoon we were given a tour of the brewery, followed by a quality assurance session which involved necking down large quantities of the Wychwood range of beers.
There was a competition, of course. Before the event we were asked to submit cartoons on the fairly broad theme of goblins, witches and other “creatures of the night”. So I submitted a couple of entries, (we were allowed three), and was stunned, flabbergasted and generally gob-smacked to have come away with the third prize. (Yes, chaps, your t-shirt is very nice, but I’m enjoying your selection case of beer even better!)
I said I put in two cartoons. The one that didn’t win, for some strange reason, is this one

Anyway, if you’d like a bloody good giggle, have a look at this link which has all the cartoons submitted for the competition.
