MICROBESITY

The computer industry may be “dynamic”, but this is not a description of the physical effort expended by those who use or develop the machines. One doesn’t exactly sweat over a keyboard; while changing disks or stationery does not produce a cataclysmic effect on the metabolism.

Computing is, in fact, very much a sedentary occupation and can easily make itself felt upon the girth of one’s waistline, giving rise to that well known  condition - Microbesity.

Microbesity tended to recede for a while with the advent of the laptop. It became possible to actually lose weight if, for example, you are a commuter and you have that added weight of a laptop to carry around on your daily journey.

But isn’t it strange how technology seems determined to advance in such a way as to undo any beneficial effects it may once have had on your waistline; because who carries laptops around these days? You can get the whole shebang on your mobile phone now!
